Last.FM and YOUR music player
44
Ok so i my blog isn't just about tech and what it can do, it's that and just my general opinion on stuff.
I use Last.fm a lot, its been a huge part of my life enhancing my musical tastes and allowing me to see which artist i basically love more. I always struggled with my music tastes and never knew where to start.
You can view which artists are doing events, comment on music, see stats about top songs. Make your own radio station with your favourite tracks and utilise their website for your own songs!
You download a small piece of software that detects the music you listen too and uploads the artist and track name to your profile called a scrobbler. Currently the only supported music players are Winamp, iTunes and Windows Media Player (it can also scrobble from your ipod but thats not really the point of this post).
It doesn't have native support for Zune, WHAT?! you think they would squeeze that in somewhere? the fact is though Zune doesn't have an api to work with. WMP, Winamp and iTunes all have some kind of plugin API which Last.fm uses.
I moved to Zune because i got bored of WMP and iTunes.I've just realised ive spent the whole blog moaning about what doesn't work. Now im moving back to iTunes because it's just easier.
If your on Last.fm add me on jayw09 and to get a plugin that scrobbles to last.fm for Zune it's called Zuse and you can get that here: http://zusefm.org/
Why not comment and have a moan about what you do or don't like on Last.fm?
Cheers guys.
